AKABA was established in 1986 by three partners who, with more enthousiasm than economical means, decided to get together in order to create a furniture company that had four main goals: design, internationality, corporate image and the creation of new jobs. From the beginning, AKABA stood out for its avant-garde designs and prestigious designers and artists as Javier Mariscal, the Basque sculptor Andrés Nagel, the sevillian designer Santiago Miranda or the architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, collaborated in its first collections with exclusive designs which made AKABA very well-known on an international scale. Beginning of the 90's, AKABA starts a progressive transformation orientating its products to the contract market, although keeping design as a differentiating factor, and are from then on, and still are, the main markets successfully approached in a new phase of great expansion and growth supported by new designs.
